pain in head

Hi,
I felt a severe pain in the right side of my skull. It almost felt like my skull was being cracked apart on that side. It lasted about 20 seconds and then after it subsided, my head felt lighter and almost a release feeling.

I wondered if you could help me make any sense of what this might be. I feel fine now but it was the strangest pain I've ever had in my head and I've never had it before.
